MARRIED COUPLES NEEDED!
The Cathedral Marriage Preparation Team is in need of married couples to participate with the Cathedral Marriage Preparation Team for the Diocesan Engaged Couples Retreat scheduled this year on July 13. There will be an organizational meeting for interested couples on Wednesday, May 29, 7 p.m. in the rectory. SUNDAY ADULT ONGOING FORMATION
Now that our Tuesday evening series on the Church Fathers has ended, we are gearing up for more Sunday morning programs following the 8:30 Sunday Mass. These programs cover a variety of topics. We obtain excellent speakers who are experts on the topics that are addressed. Some scheduling is already done, but we are looking ahead. What are some topics that you would like to learn more about? CATHEDRAL IS GOING TO BUILD A HOUSE!
The Cathedral parish will be joining three other parishes to build a house for Habitat for Humanity in October. Called a "Faith Build," we will join forces in October to make someone's life a whole lot better. Be thinking about volunteering with fellow Catholics to build a home. We have a parishioner who has graciously agree to help organize us for our part in the build. FATHER ED'S ANNIVERSARY RECEPTION
May 28 is the 31st anniversary of Father Ed's ordination to the priesthood!!! Help us mark this memorable occasion! Next Sunday, May 26, immediately following 11:00 Mass, join us in the Fleming Center for a reception in Father Ed's honor. Cake and punch will be served.

CATHEDRAL BLOOD DRIVE
Our next Cathedral Blood Drive will be Sunday, June 2, in the Fleming Center from 9:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Please note new times for this drive. You may sign up by calling Sally Stack at 298-2932. You can also sign up on line by going to  www.redcrossblood.org. Go to Account Login at the top right hand side of the page. Login as a donor. Enter our sponsor code "cathedral 019." Schedule your appointment. We will also have sign-ups in person after the 8:30 and 11:00 Masses this Sunday, May 19, and next Sunday, May 26, in the  vestibule of the Church.

If you are 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 lbs., and in good general health, you may be eligible to donate. The Cathedral hosts three drives a year in March, June and September The donation numbers have been down slightly for the last two drives so we are very hopeful that the June event will get us back to our goal of 40 units. PLEASE consider donating.

CATHEDRAL PICTORIAL DIRECTORIES
Our parish pictorial directories are being distributed. If you had your photo taken, your free directory is available after Mass (in the vestibule after the evening Masses, at Coffee & donuts after the Sunday morning Masses), or stop by the office Monday—Thursday 8 to 4:00 or Friday 8:00—Noon to pick up your directory. Contact Lois Jones (327-2330 or ljones@cathedralnashville.org to make arrangements for another way to receive your free directory.

If you did not have your picture made for the directory, after all the free directories are picked up, directories will be made available for a small fee on a first come/first serve basis while our supply lasts.

A CALL FOR FASTING ON FRIDAYS
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) approved a pastoral strategy addressing critical life, marriage and religious liberty concerns at their annual meeting last November. Part of the strategy encourages Catholics to fast and abstain from meat on Fridays during this Year of Faith for the intention of the protection of Life, Marriage, and Religious Liberty in our country.

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, chairman of the Bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage, explained that this pastoral strategy is "part of a movement for Life, Marriage, and Religious Liberty, which engages the New Evangelization and can be incorporated into the Year of Faith. Life, Marriage, and Religious Liberty are not only foundational to Catholic social teaching but also fundamental to the good of society."

RCIA Sponsors Are Needed!
Have you ever thought that you might like to serve in some way but aren't quite sure how? RCIA has several people in our Inquiry group that will soon be moving or have moved to the Catechumenate and we need sponsors! You don't need to be a theologian or someone with a vast knowledge of Catholicism, just someone with a heart to walk this journey of faith with a person who is entering the Church. In fact, most of our volunteers talk of how valuable being a sponsor is because they are deepening their own Catholic faith at the same time as the person they sponsor. We meet on Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. in St. Albert Hall.

Our budget is cut to the bone in order to meet expenses and continue to pay our monthly note on our parish loan for building the Fleming Center and renovating Saint Albert Hall. We have NO wiggle room for the unexpected, and as Dave Ramsey says, this is when "Murphy moves in!" Murphy is here …

• We need $10,000 to replace our parish computer servers. Everything runs through our servers—heat & air, email, phones, security cameras, magnetic locks on outside doors, exterior lights on the Cathedral, and more. This is urgent! Our phones are making trouble now!
• In a several week period we have had to replace the rectory kitchen appliances: microwave, two refrigerators, a freezer. $6,000 is needed.
• A family in the parish has experienced an extreme situation involving grandchildren. While the details must be confidential, I'm trying to assist in putting some parish children in a much better, safer, and healthier situation: $10,000.

WANT TO GO TO ROME?
LAST CALL!  Seminarian Phillip Halladay spent a pastoral semester with us. He will be ordained a deacon at Saint Peter's Basilica on October 3. Fathers Ed & Jayd, and Deacon Jim will be attending. Are you interested in going? Some interest has been expressed, but not enough to warrant the effort of planning a tour. We need to know how much initial interest there is before proceeding. It will be about a 10-11 day trip and cost $3,000 (probably less). The approximate dates are October 1-11. If you have some interest: esteiner@cathedralnashville.org.
