HABITAT for HUMANITY
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. From the belief that affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities, homes are built using volunteer labor, including that of Habitat homeowners through the practice of sweat equity. Homeowners commit to over 100 hours of building their neighbors homes, then their own. Habitat is both the builder and the bank, selling houses to partner families through zero-interest mortgages. Habitat makes no profit from the home sales. Mortgage payments are "recycled" to build more homes.
Cathedral Parish has been building homes with and for Habitat Homeowners annually since 2013. We raise funds year round, then build homes in the Fall of each year. Anyone 16 years and older is invited to help build. No tools or skills are required!
